Phillies Announcer Begs RF Nick Castellanos To Let Ball Drop Foul

Written by Tony Ghaul

Philadelphia Phillies RF Nick Castellanos made a gutsy play on foul ball against the Atlanta Braves in the bottom of the ninth and Phillies announcer John Kruk was begging him to let the ball drop foul.

Castellanos decided to catch the ball in foul territory with game-winning run at 3rd base in bottom of 9th. He could have played it safe and let it drop, instead he caught it and threw Braves pinch runner Luke Williams out at the plate to send the game into extra innings.

The Phillies went on to win the game 6-5 in 10 innings. Castellanos not only saved the game with his great defensive play, but he a big day with the bat too. He went 2-for-5 with two home runs and three RBI.

Castellanos now has 27 home runs and 99 RBIs on the season. The Phillies are now 83-69 on the season and three games ahead of the Arizona Diamondbacks for the top wild-card spot in the National League.
