Phillies Acquire Former Braves Top Prospect

Written by Tony Ghaul

The Philadelphia Phillies have traded for Cristian Pache, a right-handed hitting outfielder who was once a top prospect with the Atlanta Braves.

The Phillies send relief prospect Billy Sullivan to the Oakland A’s in exchange for Pache. Pache is out of options, so he’ll be on the roster to begin the season.

The Phillies opened a spot on the 40-man roster by placing first baseman Rhys Hoskins on the 60-day injured list.

The 24-year-old Pache has been impressive defensively, but he has hit just .156 in over 155 career MLB games with Oakland and Atlanta.
