Philadelphia Phillies Outfielder Dies Unexpectedly!

Written by Chris Powers

The year of 2021 has not been the best for professional athletes. This especially holds true for Major League Baseball.

Unfortunately the Philadelphia Phillies are the team who have most recently been struck by tragedy. It was announced on Tuesday, June 29th that former Phillies outfielder Scott Reid passed away at the age of 74.

He appeared in 38 games for the Philadelphia Phillies from 1969 to 1970. He went on to serve as a major league scout for over 40 years, most recently for the Detroit Tigers from 2002 to 2020.

In other Philadelphia Phillies news, outfielder Bryce Harper was called out by former Nationals teammates Max Scherzer and Ryan Zimmerman for having a foreign substance in his hair. The assumption was that the duo were just having fun at Harper’s expense after Phillies Manager Joe Girardi put Scherzer through the ringer about having a foreign substance in his hit a couple of weeks ago.
