In Alan Shipnuck’s book, “Phil: The Rip-Roaring (and Unauthorized!) Biography of Golf’s Most Colorful Superstar,” he alleges that Mickelson’s strained relationship with fellow golfer Pat Perez stems from an incident in 2015.
Shipnuck alleges that when Mickelson met with Perez and his wife for dinner, Mickelson showed Perez’s wife a photo of himself that she found offensive.
Mickelson says that Shipnuck’s claims are untrue and Perez said whatever issue he had with Mickelson has been “handled.”
Mickelson participated in the U.S. Open over the weekend but missed the cut. He hasn’t made the cut in the major tournament since 2021.
Pat Perez hasn’t participated in a major since the 2019 PGA Championship.
