The Kansas City Chiefs and their QB Patrick Mahomes are used to getting referee calls and getting all breaks, and now after what they perceived as a bad offsides call, are whining.
Mahomes was attempting to move the Chiefs in position to score. He completed a pass to TE Travis Kelce, who then lateraled the ball to WR Kadarius Toney and he ran it in for a touchdown.
The play was nullified by an offsides penalty. Mahomes then failed to complete three passes in a row and the Chiefs lost 20-17 to the Bills.
After the game, Mahomes let Bills QB Josh Allen know how he felt.
“Wildest f*cking call I’ve ever seen… F*cking terrible.”
In his post game press conference, Mahomes continued to whine over the call.
“That’s a Hall of Fame tight end making a Hall of Fame play that won’t be shown because [they] threw a flag for offensive offsides,” Mahomes said. “It takes away from, not only this game, this season, but from a legendary career that Travis has had. That hurts me because I know how hard he works for it.”
This is high level crying by the Chiefs. Head Coach Andy Reid joined the whine party after the game too.
I get the frustration of losing, but to whine like this, is just ridiculous. The Chiefs are not playing winning football. They are struggling. Blaming the officials, is just plain weak.
The Chiefs are 8-5 on the season, and their record reflects how they are playing. Mahomes is talented football player, but he’s not having his best season.
The Chiefs need to move on and try to get back to winning games and playing better football.
