August 6th 2022 Kareem Hunt has sat out of team drills and request a contract extension. This move took most by surprise, but what wasn’t a shock was the Browns denying his request. Hunts 2021 season was riddled by injury and only rushed for 386 yards and 5 touchdowns. The Browns are the only team that took a chance on Hunt after a video surfaced if him yelling and kicking a woman in a hotel back in November of 2018. The then Kansas City running back was cut by the team shortly after the video surfaced. The Browns picked up Hunt even though he would be suspended for the first 8 games of the 2019 season.
Sunday August 7th,2022 Hunt sat out of drills and requested trade. Coach Kevin Stefanski did not want to comment on the situation when asked by reporters. WIth the Browns declining his request to be traded, Hunt can now either sit out the season. Hunt can also play under his current contract and try and build a case on why a team should sign him in free agency next year or the Browns give into his request/contract extension request. Only time will tell what is going to play out this season for the Cleveland Browns and Kareem Hunt.
