Ohio State Names Starting QB For Week 1 Matchup Against Indiana

Written by Tony Ghaul

Ohio State Head Coach Ryan Day has announced that Kyle McCord will start for Ohio State in Week 1 against Indiana. Day also said that Devin Brown will see action.

McCord had been in a preseason competition with Brown for Ohio State’s starting QB spot. Day said McCord earned the opportunity to start the season opener based on his consistency in practice over the past two weeks.

McCord is from Mount Laurel, New Jersey. He is in his 3rd year and has been the top backup to last year’s starter C.J. Stroud.

McCord played with Ohio State’s star WR Marvin Harrison Jr. at St. Joseph’s Prep High School in Philadelphia, where he led the Hawks to three straight state championships and set city records by throwing for 6,687 yards and 88 touchdowns over three years.
