According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel Notre Dame quarterback Drew Pyne intends to enter the transfer portal.

Pyne will have three years of eligibility remaining after redshirting last season. Pyne finished the season 164-254 for 2,021 passing yards with 22 touchdowns and six interceptions. He also ran for 108 yards and two touchdowns on 47 carries while leading the Irish to an 8-2 record.

With Pyne out, Notre Dame will have to decide whether Tyler Buchner is healthy enough and ready to start, or if the starting role falls to freshman Steve Angeli, who has yet to attempt a pass in his career.
