NFL Trade Deadline: Miami Dolphins won’t trade for Deshaun Watson; Houston Texans to explore trade after season.

With less than 90 minutes left until the 4pm trade deadline in the NFL, Deshaun Watson will remain a member of the Houston Texans.

The Miami Dolphins, who are Watson’s preferred destination, will not make a trade for Watson, as he will stay in Houston and not take his talents to South Beach.

Dolphins owner Stephen Ross was ready to sign off on a trade that likely sent three first-round picks to Houston for Watson, but the Dolphins wanted Watson’s legal issues cleared up first.

Watson has remained a healthy scratch from the Texans since the start of the 2021 season due to 22 counts of sexual misconduct, but the NFL has not put Watson on the exempt list, meaning he could play at any time since he isn’t suspended.

With the Texans having no future plans to play Watson again, they are expected to try and resume trade talks to deal Watson. It’ll be curious to see if it remains only the Dolphins involved or if other teams jump into the mix too.
