NFL Rumors: Saints and Panthers have made trade offers to the Texans for Deshaun Watson

Written by Doug Rush

We already knew that the Carolina Panthers were aggressively making a run to trade for Deshaun Watson. They aren’t the only team.

Not only have the Panthers tried to trade for Watson, but so have the New Orleans Saints.

The Saints are on Year 2 in life after Drew Brees. They were doing well under Jameis Winston, who was 5-2 before he got hurt and finished 4-6 without him.

As far as draft picks go, the Saints have the 18th overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, which is 12 picks down from the Panthers number six overall pick.

The Panthers also have Sam Darnold who they can include in the trade for Watson. Winston is a free agent, but they could offer Taysom Hill, who still has three years left on a four year, $40 million deal.

It’s unclear if any other teams will make trade proposals to the Texans for Watson, but with the legal issues not holding his career back, teams are making their best sales pitches to Houston for him.
