People around the NFL think that Russell Wilson could be playing his last days with the Seattle Seahawks and he may look to another team in 2022.
Some have looked at the Philadelphia Eagles, New Orleans Saints, Washington Football Team, Carolina Panthers and the Miami Dolphins as options.
But here’s one that makes everything interesting; the New York Giants.
Granted, we don’t know who the general manager will be after Dave Gettleman, who is expected to retire after the 2021 season. But that might play well into the Wilson chase.
The next GM may not be inclined to want to go with Daniel Jones, which is their right. So if the next GM wants their own guy, it’s either the draft or free agency/trade.
The draft doesn’t have much to offer in 2022, so if the Giants next GM is looking at a veteran, Wilson fits.
Before the Giants ever convince Wilson, who really, would get the okay from his celebrity wife, Ciara, who we all know would definitely okay a trade to the Giants and it’s been reported that Ciara wants her husband to play in New York, the offensive line MUST be fixed.
The Giants have two first rounders, which many have mocked Kenyon Green from Texas A&M and Tyler Linderbaum from Iowa, and those would be two solid additions to a Giants offensive line that has been bad, like the one Wilson is dealing with.
With Shane Lemieux and Nick Gates coming back next year from injuries, the Giants are looking at the right side of the line to replace Will Hernandez and Nate Solder.
The Giants have former first rounder Isaiah Wilson on their practice squad. Can he be an option? Maybe.
Once the Giants offensive line is settled, then the rest of the offense is an easier sell; Saquon Barkley, Kenny Golladay and Kadarius Toney as options for Wilson are something he’s never had in Seattle.
If the next Giants GM doesn’t want to keep Jones around, then Wilson needs a hard look at, and to be sold on coming 3,000 miles back East.
