The Atlanta Falcons thought they were close to getting Deshaun Watson, until he was traded to the Cleveland Browns.
That left Matt Ryan in a state of flux, and even though Atlanta didn’t get Watson, they apparently are still considering trading their veteran quarterback, as the Indianapolis Colts have been working on a deal for him.
If Ryan isn’t traded, the Falcons owe Ryan a $7.5 million roster bonus, so that would motivate Atlanta to trade Ryan before 4p.m. on Monday.
The Colts have been in need of a quarterback after trading Carson Wentz to the Washington Commanders earlier this month and Ryan shot up on their list of players they’d be interested in.
They have also been linked to Baker Mayfield, who will eventually be traded by the Cleveland Browns, as well as Jimmy Garoppolo from the San Francisco 49ers and free agent Jameis Winston.
