Different quarterbacks bring different leadership styles, ranging from a quiet demeanor, less demonstrative, more artistic, to the more upbeat and flashy image. Leadership is a component of winning football at all levels, and effective leadership in a team sport is about bringing out the best in teammates.
By now, everyone knows the story about Jimmy Garoppolo and his tryst with adult film star Kiara Mia. According to many, Jimmy G did not exhibit his best leadership skills off the field which allegedly gave concern to many within the 49ers organization. Despite Mia being a human just like everyone else, the world saw Jimmy G get lambasted in the media. Fox News’ Britt McHenry said the following about Jimmy G’s actions:
“Jimmy Garoppolo is the franchise quarterback of a prominent NFL team. He should have more values and class than parading a porn star in LA. Slam me for saying that, but guarantee someone in his camp said the same thing.”

Ever since the date with Kiara Mia happened, Garoppolo has struggled in San Francisco. From allegedly not being loved by head coach Kyle Shanahan as well as the front office. These alleged feelings were only supported further by the 2022 NFL Draft signing of Trey Lance. But fortunately for Jimmy, he has seemingly begun to turn things around a bit as his gameplay has improved immensely in 2021 putting the QB controversy in San Francisco at bay for the time being.
