Sean Payton was one of the most successful coaches with his time in New Orleans from 2006 -21. He begins a new journey today as he signed his five year contract with the Denver Broncos. The deal ties Payton to Denver through 2027.
Payton will only last if he can find a way to win with Wilson as his quarterback. Wilson is coming off of a down year as he ended the season ranked 27th in the league posting a 36.9 QBR and throwing for only 16 touchdowns.
The challenge for Payton is to get Russell Wilson back to his 2020-21 form. If he can somehow work his magic then Denver won’t look like fools for sending New Orleans 2023 first round pick, (No.30 overall) 2024 second round pick and it’s 2024 third round pick.
Payton has a huge challenge in getting Denver back to its winning ways but he is the right man for the job according to the team sources. Payton will bring change in the attitude and mindset of Denver’s players. Watch for roster shake ups coming.
