The NBA trade deadline is February 10. Teams are starting to make moves before then.
The Philadelphia 76ers are apparently trying to get stronger for a second-half run and want to acquire James Harden from the Brooklyn Nets.
Harden was acquired by the Nets last season to try and help Brooklyn win a championship, but they lost to the eventual NBA Champions, the Milwaukee Bucks, in the second round of the playoffs.
The Nets have lost six straight and are the sixth seed in the Eastern Conference playoffs at 29-22. Harden has been averaging 22.8 points and 10.2 assists per game.
With Ben Simmons not playing a single game this season with hopes of being traded out of Philadelphia, this might finally be the way to make it happen. Simmons hasn’t played since the 76ers were eliminated by the Atlanta Hawks in the second round of the playoffs and Simmons was kicked out of practice by Doc Rivers for failure to participate in drills in the pre-season.
Some feel that Harden’s days in Brooklyn could be coming to an end, so if a trade does happen, it’ll be curious to see if Brooklyn and Philadelphia can find ground on making a trad before next week.
