Nationals Manager Dave Martinez Goes Absolutely Mad and Football Spikes, Kicks the First Base After Being Ejected Versus Cubs

Written by Nate

This got interesting in a hurry.

Earlier Wednesday night in the seventh inning against the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals manager Dave Martinez was ejected for disputing an out call at first base, believing to be due to a Washington base runner running out of the base line in a play.

However, the action didn’t stop there as Martinez went full Lloyd McClendon and Lou Pinella as he picked up the first base and spiked it to the ground before kicking it.

Even though they’re leading Chicago 4-2 at the time, it was probably used to fire up both the Wrigley Field crowd and his players as the Nationals are currently listed in lady place in the NL East. But from our eyes, it’s all just entertainment for baseball fans.

With that video, it is easily up for 2021 MLB ejection of the year.
