Adam Eaton was in the final season of his five year, $23.5M deal he inked as a member of the Chicago White Sox, yet the Nationals right-fielder had a sixth year option for $9.5M that Washington has declined.
The Nationals acquired Eaton in the 2016 offseason, sending over prominent prospect Lucas Giolito, who has since solidified himself as the ace of the Chicago White Sox.
Eaton ended up being a big part of the 2019 Nationals that won the World Series. As a Nat, he hit to a .784 OPS. But, this past year was atrocious, hitting to a .669 OPS.
