Nakobe Dean could be the steal of the draft

Written by Tony Ghaul

Nakobe Dean falling to the third round of the draft and the Eagles selecting him made my day. I believe that he is the steal of this year’s draft. He is a first round talent. He fell in the draft due to medical evaluation and his athletic measurables. He has been on the field for all the off the pre camp workouts, so he has seemed to answer the injury questions.

The Eagles fully expect him to be in uniform for training camp and the regular season. He is considered undersized by NFL standards at 6-foot, 225 pounds. He does not possess fast speed and is scouted as having average athleticism. Dean does have tremendous heart, great leadership, can read offenses and get to his spots. He can make plays against the run and pass. Heart, desire and will cannot be measured.

He was Georgia’s middle linebacker and in charge of putting his teammates in the right spots for the top defense in college football. I am excited at the prospect of watching Dean lead the Eagles and become the heart of soul of it.

I envision him to have the same effect as Brian Dawkins had for the Eagles teams of the past. I am looking forward to see how he progresses through training camp and seeing how defensive coordinator Jonathan Gannon utilizes him. Mark my words, he will be the steal of this year’s draft.
