Carlos Correa is considered one of the top free agents of the winter and is expected to command top dollar on the market.
The Houston Astros have already made a five-year, $160 million offer to Correa, but it’s not expected for him to accept that, as he may get double that from a team.
So who are considered the front runners to land Correa in free agency? Two teams have apparently made themselves the favorites; the New York Yankees and Detroit Tigers.
Both the Yankees and Tigers make sense given the fact that both teams have a need for Correa. What Detroit has over the Yankees is AJ Hinch, who was Correa’s old manager in Houston, who became the Tigers manager before the 2021 season.
The Yankees, of course, have the money, have a need and can offer Correa a chance to compete for a championship.
Plus, given the fact that the Astros have been a thorn in the side of the Yankees since 2015, how fitting would it be for the Yankees to pluck away one of their best players in Correa?
