If there’s one thing Brian Cashman loves about players, especially position players, it’s their versatility and ability to play all over the field.

So while most are focused on the shortstop position, Cashman could look at one player and he’d be able to fit five-six positions on the field.

Kris Bryant.

Bryant is a former MVP who can still play at an All Star level. He still has power and can drive in runs, which he did with both the Chicago Cubs and San Francisco Giants last season.

The Yankees could use Bryant at third base, which means they’d have to trade Gio Urshela. And that could happen.

Or, and this would be the more likely scenario, the Yankees could use Bryant in two of the three outfield spots, especially center field, which he played at 19 games last season. Or, if Joey Gallo or Aaron Judge play center field, then Bryant could play left field, where he played 48 games at last season.

A possible factor that was also mentioned is the possible reuniting of Bryant with Anthony Rizzo, who were teammates with the Cubs up until they were each traded over the summer.

The Yankees are interested in keeping Rizzo for first base and if they don’t trade for Matt Olson, Rizzo is the likely player who will man first base next season. Having another member of the 2016 World Series Cubs team would benefit the Yankees, especially someone of Bryant’s character and experience.

Bryant will turn 30 in early, so something like a four or five year deal would make sense for Bryant, as he is still im the prime years of his career.

He’s an excellent fit for the Yankees lineup, clubhouse and culture. Brian Cashman should be all over Bryant this winter.
