Billy Eppler has been aggressive this weekend. He has three new players for the New York Mets and is apparently trying to add a fourth.
The Mets are reportedly “all in” on trying to land free agent pitcher Kevin Gausman.
Gausman was 14-6 with a 2.81 ERA in 33 starts this year for the San Francisco Giants and has been a top priority for the Mets since the start of their free agency spending spree. The Mets rotation has a lot of questions surrounding it, as Jacob deGrom is the ace, but only pitched half the season due to injuries.
The Mets let Noah Syndergaard walk away and are likely not re-signing Marcus Stroman, who feels the Mets have ignored him this winter.
That leaves Taijuan Walker, Tylor McGill and David Peterson from a last year’s rotation, thus, why the Mets are being aggressive in their pursuit for Gausman.
