Minnesota Vikings fire Mike Zimmer as their head coach

The end of the Mike Zimmer era came today on NFL’s Black Monday.

The Vikings decided to fire Zimmer as their head coach. They also have fired Rick Spielman as their general manager.

Zimmer’s end as the head coach comes less than 24 hours after the Vikings beat the Chicago Bears 31-17l, which gave Minnesota an 8-9 record on the season.

Zimmer went 72-56-1 as the Vikings head coach over the course of seven seasons and a 2-3 playoff record. Zimmer could get looks as either a head coach or as a defensive coordinator.
