Northern Michigan University (NMU) and the Upper Peninsula of Michigan (UP) had themselves two famous alumni return home for a brief time.

Via Michigan State Men’s Basketball’s official social media accounts, Spartans head coach Tom Izzo was captured on several photos at his old school. He can be seen walking a little tour along the awards and UP history halls at the Superior Dome on campus.

The 2000 NCAA National Champion head coach for Michigan State was also seen giving hugs to his best friend, fellow NMU alumnus and UP native, and former NFL head coach Steve Mariucci.

However other than a nice visit back to his campus, both Mariucci and Izzo are back in the UP for a different reason.

According to WLNS 6 Lansing sports director Audrey Dahlgren, the Spartans head coach reunited with Mariucci in support and to celebrate the grand opening of Steve’s newly-located Beacon House in Marquette. Dahlgren stated that the Beacon House has a room named after Izzo.

The new Steve Mariucci Family Beacon House is located nearby the UP Health System buildings in Marquette.
