Michigan State Legend Magic Johnson Reacts To Mass Shooting

A gunman opened fire Monday night at Michigan State University, killing three people and wounding five more, before fatally shooting himself miles away after an hours-long manhunt that forced frightened students to hide in the dark.

After hearing the news, Michigan State basketball legend Magic Johnson took to Twitter to share his sympathies, thoughts and prayers to the victims of the senseless killing.

“Cookie [and] I are devastated to hear about the news of a shooting on Michigan State’s campus. We are praying for the victims, their families, students, faculty, employees [and] administration,” Johnson wrote.

“This is such a tragic situation [and] our hearts go out to the MSU community, all of Lansing and East Lansing!”

The shooting at Michigan State is the latest in what has become a deadly new year in the U.S. Dozens of people have died in mass shootings so far in 2023, most notably in California where 11 people were killed as they welcomed the Lunar New Year at a dance hall popular with older Asian Americans.

This is such a tragic situation. My thoughts and sympathies go to the family and friends of the victims and to the whole Michigan State University community.
