Michigan Basketball Coach Juwan Howard Starts Scuffle With Wisconsin Team; Slaps Badgers Assistant Coach in Head

Written by Nate

There was chaos on display at the end of the Michigan Wolverines-Wisconsin Badgers hoops matchup in Madison Sunday afternoon.

At the handshake line, Wolverines head coach Juwan Howard got into an argument with Badgers head coach Greg Gard over a late timeout that was called in the game.

In the video clips below, Howard comes up, stops Gard and holds Gard and his shirt angry with him as both teams try to intervene. However, things escalated as the Wolverine players start attacking the Wisconsin coaches, which Howard responds with a slap to the head/face area to Badgers assistant coach Joe Krabbenhoft.

Some Twitter users thought Howard throw a punch at the Krabbenhoft, but in the slow motion clip, you can see the Michigan hoops coach slap him with his hand open, and not in a clenched fist.

Even while the fight was happening, another Wisconsin assistant made a ’suck it’ gesture towards Howard and the Michigan team.

Pending on the Big Ten’s review of the skirmish, it is a definite possibility that Howard will suspended for a game or two, possibly the rest of the conference season. The players involved in the middle of it probably will get a light suspension or reduced roles, but who knows? What do you think?

It’s been a struggle of a season for Michigan men’s hoops this season, but this fight is not making things any better for the Wolverines team as a whole. Just disappointing from a national standpoint.
