The Miami Dolphins have placed QB Mike White in concussion protocol after he left their second preseason matchup against the Houston Texans.
The Dolphins signed White to a two-year deal this offseason. White was with the New York Jets for four years and made seven starts over the last two seasons.
The Dolphins brought in White to compete with Skylar Thompson for the #2 QB spot, behind starter Tua Tagovailoa.
Thompson was a seventh round pick by the Dolphins in the 2022 NFL draft. He was the backup QB last year and started a playoff game for the Dolphins.
The Dolphins need to have depth at the QB position, as Tagovailoa has missed eight games over the last two seasons and dealt with multiple concussions in 2022, raising concerns about this longevity in the NFL.
With White’s injury, Tagovailoa and Thompson are the only healthy quarterbacks on the roster.
