On Saturday evening in Montgomery, Alabama, police responded to large fistfight on the dock of the Alabama River. The brawl occurred at about 7 p.m. Saturday at the 200 block of Coosa Street.

Witnesses at the scene said that the fight started from a disagreement about a pontoon boat blocking the dock where a riverboat was attempting to park, as reported by 1819 News.

The massive brawl involved both males and females. Men are seen gouging eyes and hurling punches to each others’ heads, while one woman lies on the floor as a man smashes a chair across her head. One man is even seen swimming across from the other side of the river to join the fight.

The fight appeared to develop along racial lines as the boaters were white, while the dock worker and the others fighting against the boaters were black.

The Montgomery mayor Steven Reed issued a statement on the incident.

“Last night, the Montgomery Police Department acted swiftly to detain several reckless individuals for attacking a man who was doing his job. Warrants have been signed and justice will be served,” Mayor Steven L. Reed wrote.
