As of 3 p.m. Wednesday afternoon (New Year’s Day), the Mackinac Bridge is currently closed for all traffic due to falling ice onto the main roads.
WLUC TV6 mentioned in their original post that drivers, who are approaching the bridge are advised to reduce speeds down to 20 miles per hour and be prepared to stop within that vicinity.
For those who plan on traveling towards the Bridge/Straits areas, please tune in to AM 530 or 1610.
We will also provide an update here once when we get word that the bridge has been reopened.
UPDATE: the Mackinac Bridge has been reopened to the public after being closed due to falling ice on the roads.
