LSU player suffered a serious injury on the opening kickoff

LSU cornerback Sevyn Banks suffered a serious injury on the opening kickoff of LSU football’s matchup against Auburn. Banks went in to make a tackle headfirst on the opening kick and did not move after making contact with Auburn kick returner Keionte Scott.

After the hit, Banks was loaded onto a stretcher. LSU was handed a 15-yard penalty after the play. A video review determined that Banks’ hit was worthy of a targeting penalty.

According to the ESPN broadcast, Banks was responsive as he was being lifted onto the medical cart. It was also reported, that Banks was able to move his extremities. He was sent to East Alabama Medical Center.
