I’ll never enjoy covering these stories but whenever someone sadly passes away we need to make sure it’s covered. If you’re a fan of USC or the Los Angeles Rams this persons death might hurt you more than on average.
Former Cleveland Browns first round pick, Charles, White who went onto later play of Los Angeles and won comeback player of the year along with making the Pro Bowl in that season has died.
White was Rose Bowl MVP in 1979, the year he won the Heisman, and several other awards — and 1980. He was a key member of USC’s 1978 national title-winning squad.
White played nine seasons in the NFL with the Browns and Rams, leading the league in rushing in 1987.
“Charles White was one of the all-time great Trojans,” USC athletic director Mike Bohn said.
White dealt with addiction issues, including smoking weed everyday during college and doing cocaine prior to his National Championship game.
He later went on to sell his Heisman Trophy! He sadly died of liver cancer this year at the age of 64.
