It’s being reported that the Los Angeles Rams were finalizing a deal that would send standout cornerback Jalen Ramsey to the Miami Dolphins.
Josina Anderson of CBS Sports reports that the teams are in “deep discussions.” Anderson adds that there’s a “high likelihood” that a deal comes together.
Ramsey has three years left on his current deal, but may be in the market for a new contract as part of a deal to a new team.
The 28-year-old Ramsey is coming off the sixth Pro Bowl season of his career and third with the Rams.
Ramsey is in the middle of a five-year, $100 million contract extension that runs through 2023, per Over the Cap. The Rams would amass $24.6 million in dead money on their 2023 cap if they released him, so a trade makes the most sense.
