In effort to help shore up their secondary, the Detroit Lions went with a defensive back as their lone third round pick at No. 97 overall.
Just after the Indianapolis Colts took their defensive back in Maryland’s Nick Cross, the Lions went with Illinois safety Kerby Joseph as their compensatory pick used in the NFL Draft.
As part of the pick, Joseph joins a young, but improving secondary that continues to grow and develop as the Dan Campbell era is still going on in the Motor City.
The former Illinois Fighting Illini prospect will join the likes of cornerbacks Amani Oruwariye, Jeff Okudah, Jerry Jacobs, AJ Parker, and Ifeatu Melifonwu and safeties Tracy Walker, DeShone Elliott and Will Harris.
