The trash talk between has already begun between the Detroit Lions and the Green Bay Packers.
Speaking to the media on Friday, Lions safety DeShon Elliott called out Aaron Rodgers for what he perceives as blatant disrespect the QB has towards his team. He said that Rodgers has spoken about his Lions in a way that rubs him and the team the wrong way.
“This means a lot, because I feel like they don’t respect us,” safety DeShon Elliott said after practice on Friday. “Aaron Rodgers doesn’t respect us, that team doesn’t respect us. We shouldn’t be an underdog, no matter what the record says. Going out there, I think we’re going to fight our ass off, play smashmouth football, just ‘cause of the respect factor.
“Like, we all got here someway, somehow. Yeah, he’s a Hall-of-Famer, but I just don’t respect the way he’s been talking about my guys all year, and the way that team views us. So we’re going to go out there and prove something.”
After the game, Rodgers dissed the Lions with his postgame comments.
“We can’t lose a game like that against that team, no,” Rodgers said after that game at Ford Field. “So that’s going to hurt for a while.”
The Lions 1-6 at that time. Now, they are 8-8 and have only lost twice since that Packers game. Green Bay (8-8) has also entered the picture by ripping off four straight wins.
The Detroit Lions are in the playoffs with a win and Seattle loss/tie. The Green Bay Packers are in with a win.
