The Detroit Lions have officially signed the second overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft, Aidan Hutchinson, to a 4 year, $35.71M rookie contract that includes a $23.15M signing bonus. This was first announced by his agent, Mike McCartney.

Many believed that Aidan could have been drafted first overall by the Jacksonville Jaguars but he fell into the right spot and was able to stay home in Michigan. He has proven to be a dominant force when he is on the field, racking up 68 tackles with 4.5 sacks as a Sophomore in 2019. After an injury in 2020 that caused him to miss the final eight games of the season, Hutchinson bounced back in the 2021 season as a Senior to record 55 total tackles, with 15 tackles for loss, and smashing the team record by registering 14 sacks on the season.
This performance led to Hutchinson being the Heisman trophy runner-up and was the only defensive player to be nominated for the award. Hutchinson gets to stay home in Michigan, which may feel like a dream come true for him and his family as they won’t have to travel far to watch him play in Detroit.
