Written by Tony Ghaul

Phillies left fielder Kyle Schwarber blasted a grand slam in a six-run first inning and starting pitcher Aaron Nola allowed two runs while striking out 10 in Saturday’s 12-3 rout of the Cubs.

The Phillies snapped a five-game losing streak with the victory. Kody Clemens went 2-for-4 with a two-run homer in and Edmundo Sosa added three hits with an RBI. Bryson Stott went 2-for-4 with two RBIs for the Phillies.

Nola notched his fourth win of the season. He allowed only a two-run, sixth-inning homer to Dansby Swanson, plus three other hits and one walk in seven innings.

Bryce Harper went 2-for-3 with a RBI. He also walked twice, reaching base four times.

The Phillies gave slumping shortstop Trea Turner the day off following an 0-for-4 performance Friday, when he also committed an error.
