AEW has a history of allowing talents the benefit of working for NJPW while honoring their AEW dates. This past January at WrestleKingdom 14, Jon Moxley worked current AEW superstar Lance Archer in a Texas Death Match where he became the IWGP United States Champion.
It’s Moxley’s second reign and he has held the championship for 332 days. Despite this, Tony Khan went on record in a presser for Wednesday’s Moxley-Omega World Championship match that regardless of the outcome, Moxley will not be working the 15th annual WrestleKingdom. Dave Meltzer of the Observer had noted on Thursday that AEW and NJPW had not reached a deal regarding talents working WrestleKingdom.
Moxley’s most recent title defense was against Minoru Suzuki in February.
