More details are emerging surrounding former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion, Jon Jones’ (26-1) arrest over the weekend in Las Vegas. Jones was arrested for misdemeanor battery domestic violence and tampering with a vehicle after being inducted into the UFC Hall of Fame for his UFC 165 fight.
The events of that night have come to light involving his fiancé. Jones allegedly grabbed his fiancé by the back of the head/hair to prevent her from leaving the hotel room. According to the arrest report, the woman was “bleeding from her nose and or mouth.” Police observed his fiancé’s bloody clothing and bedsheets. Police also observed that she had a swollen lip.
The 911 call audio was leaked and it’s disturbing to hear hotel security confirm her gruesome injuries.
“We’ve got a possible DV call, domestic violence call. Female is bleeding from the nose and mouth…she’s down with us while the male is up in the room. He’s actually a professional MMA fighter, Jon[athan] Jones and she is like refusing to go back to the room…“

Police arrived and couldn’t immediately locate Jones. They eventually found him walking along a street where he “became irate and smashed his head onto the front hood” of the police vehicle, causing a medium-sized dent and paint chipping” (according to MMAJunkie).
Jon Jones is his own worst enemy and should be cut from the UFC immediately. Jones has previously been arrested for a DUI, DWI, hit and run, assault, negligent use of a firearm, possession of an open container, etc. The list is never-ending. At this point, not only is it dangerous to have him on your roster, but the optics of the entire situation is a PR nightmare. The UFC should cut their losses and move on. How could he possibly bounce back from this? He’s a hazard to himself and those around him.
