Jets Owner Willing To Spend Big To Upgrade QB Position

New York Jets Owner Woody Johnson revealed that he is willing to spend to bring in a veteran quarterback for 2023, suggesting that Zach Wilson may not have much of a future with the organization. Johnson added that he felt the franchise had made mistakes with Wilson, though he refused to completely write the quarterback off.

The Jets have a talented roster, but were held back significantly by poor quarterback play in 2022. A better QB likely has the Jets in the playoffs. Zack Wilson, Joe Flacco and Mike White were not the answer.

Zach Wilson was the former No. 2 overall pick in the 2020 draft. He threw for 1,688 yards with 6 touchdowns and 7 interceptions last year and was benched on multiple occasions.

The Jets already have invested $35 million guaranteed in Wilson. The plan is to keep him, according to Johnson, but he acknowledged, “Zach had a tough year, there’s no denying that. I still have confidence that I’ve seen some kernels of real talent there.
