Byron Leftwich is coming home to where his NFL career started.

Leftwich is expected to become the next head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Leftwich has been the Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator since 2019 and won a Super Bowl with the team in 2020 while running the offense for Tom Brady and Bruce Arians.

Leftwich was a former Jaguars quarterback, as he was a former first round pick back in 2003 and was there until 2006.

Leftwich is replacing former college head coach Urban Meyer, who was fired after a 2-11 start to his first season there after numerous scandals came up during the year. Darrell Bevell finished out the season as the interim head coach and went 1-3.

Leftwich was being groomed under Arians for the last few seasons; he was the quarterbacks coach when Arians was the Arizona Cardinals head coach from 2017-2018 and also was the interim offensive coordinator in 2018 before he became the offensive coordinator for the Buccaneers in 2019 under Arians.

Now. Leftwich will get the chance to coach Trevor Lawrence and run his own team down in Jacksonville.
