The Phoenix Suns lost to the surging Los Angeles Lakers 122-111. The Lakers were led by the trio of Anthony Davis, D’Angelo Russell, and new fan favorite Austin Reaves, scoring 27, 26, and 25 points respectively.
The Suns on the other hand were led by Devin Booker’s 33 points but were without their big man DeAndre Ayton, who sat the game because of a minor injury. Kevin Durant is still sidelined after spraining his ankle almost a couple of weeks ago and isn’t expected to suit up until the playoffs.
But the big story tonight is about referee Scott Foster and Suns point guard Chris Paul. For those who do not know, there is a unique but somehow odd history between the two. Chris Paul hasn’t won when Scott Foster is officiating the same game since 2011.
Believe it or not, after tonight’s loss, it has been 12 years since Chris Paul won a game with Foster officiating. It doesn’t just cover the regular season, it also with the playoffs as well.
Does Foster have a personal vendetta against Paul? He has been mum on the issue but Chris Paul publicly stated that he doesn’t like Scott Foster one bit. The league has already investigated the matter years ago but found no basis to fine or suspend Foster.
After tonight’s loss, Twitter had a field day about CP3’s continued struggle against the famed referee. Things will get spicy once the playoffs begin a couple of weeks from now and their ‘rivalry’ will definitely grab the spotlight again.
