Is Jokic Underappreciated as an NBA Star?

Written by TrevStone

Nikola Jokic is one of the best players in the NBA today, yet he often flies under the radar when compared to other stars in the league. Despite being the reigning MVP and leading his team, the Denver Nuggets, to the playoffs for the third consecutive year, Jokic still seems to be underappreciated as an NBA star.

In this article, we will take a look at whether or not Jokic truly is an underappreciated NBA star, as well as going over a few of Jokic’s most noticeable achievements throughout his prosperous career.

A Phenomenal Player in All Regards

To tell you the truth; Jokic’s achievements speak for themselves. He is the first player in NBA history to average 26 points, 10 rebounds, and 8 assists while shooting 56% from the field and 40% from three-point range. He has also led the Nuggets to the playoffs in each of the last three seasons, including a trip to the Western Conference Finals in 2020.

It is not just his individual stats that make Jokic a special player, but his impact on his team’s success as well. He is the heart and soul of the Nuggets, and his unselfish play and leadership have helped to elevate his teammates’ games.

It is no coincidence that Jokic is often a live betting favourite whenever he is on the court – his incredible talent paired with his dedication to his team makes him a formidable player.

An Unorthodox Player Style & a Lacklustre Team Holds Jokic Back

While Jokic has experienced some level of success in the NBA, there are a few factors that hold him back. One of which may be his unorthodox style of play. Jokic is not a flashy player, and his game is built on fundamentals and intelligence rather than athleticism or explosiveness. This doesn’t take away from his incredible skill set, which includes elite passing, shooting, and rebounding abilities, but it does make him less fun to watch.

Another factor that may contribute to Jokic’s underappreciation is his team’s market size. The Denver Nuggets are one of the NBA’s most underrated teams, which means they do not receive as much national media coverage as some of the more high-profile teams. As a result, Jokic’s performances tend to not get the attention they deserve.

Jokic is just a player that flies under most people’s radar because of his unorthodox style of play and his less well-known team, and while this doesn’t take away from his skill, it does take away from his stardom.

In conclusion, Nikola Jokic is a superstar in the NBA, and his impact on the game cannot be overlooked. While he may be underappreciated by some, his performances on the court speak for themselves.

He is a complete player who makes his team better, and his unorthodox style of play should not detract from his greatness. As Jokic continues to dominate on the court, it is only a matter of time before he gets the recognition he deserves as one of the best players in the league.
