Is A Mike Trout Trade To The Phillies A Possibility?

Written by Tony Ghaul

There have been many rumors swirling about the Philadelphia Phillies trading for Los Angeles Angels outfielder Mike Trout. These rumors are one of the main topics on 94WIP sports talk radio.

For at least a decade, there have always been talk of the Phillies somehow acquiring Trout. He is a South Jersey native and a big-time Philadelphia sports fan. Trout is usually found at Eagles when baseball is over.

Trout, who has been one of the best players in baseball, is coming off consecutive injury shortened seasons and because of that his “stock” has never been lower.

The Phillies organization, now has the prospects in their system that would take to acquire the former three-time AL MVP winner.

The Phillies are also in the win now mode, as their star players are in their prime. With the likes of Bryce Harper, Tre Turner, Zack Wheeler, J.T. Realmuto and Kyle Schwarber all around the 30 year-old range.

With superstar Bryce Harper now moving to first base full-time, Kyle Schwarber to DH full-time and possibility of trading outfielder Nick Castellanos, there will be an opening in the outfield.

My only concern would be Trout’s health, as he has been injury prone the last few seasons. The talent is still there. He is still a top player and a elite hitter with a lot of power.

This could be the time to go after Trout, as the Angels about to lose superstar Shohei Ohtani and should really look to rebuild and go younger.

This is the time to bring Trout to Phillies. Strike while the iron is hot.
