In the midst of a wild Saturday in college football, the Iowa Hawkeyes suffered arguably the worst loss at home to their rivals in the Minnesota Golden Gophers.
With less than two minutes left in the game, Iowa defensive back Cooper DeJean returned back a punt for a touchdown to take a 18-12 lead late.
However, the referees decided to review the touchdown, and they determined that DeJean’s left arm was motioning for a ‘fair catch’ before the touchdown.
The call left many fans puzzled and upset, and in another clip, there were fans that were throwing trash on to the field afterwards.
That’s going to be a call that will sting Iowa fans for years to come. However, the Golden Gophers would hang on to win 12-10 in Iowa City, taking home the Floyd of Rosedale Trophy to Minneapolis.
