If there is a dilemma in this world, it is the sports version of the famous “do you study or do you work? In this case: do you train or study? It is always said that the important thing is to study, to forge a career and that sport should remain in the “background”, but what is the reality?

Indeed, professional training is very important for the athlete. Why? First: Because nobody assures us when we start that we will have a promising career in our sport. We have to think about retirement and injuries.  

Second: Because, unfortunately, at any time we can suffer an injury that will take us away from the sport for good.

Third: And very important: retirement, that is, the end of sporting life, is an event that happens very quickly in time, and when sporting life ends it is very important that the person has a professional path to follow, whether it is related to sport or not.

The difficulty is not the lack of time, but the management of it. Of course, it is not easy. It is true that depending on the sport you practice it may be more or less complicated, since in some sports training lasts for more hours than in others, but whatever the sport you practice it probably requires dedication and effort that makes it not easy for you. Therefore, these tips will help you.

Tips for athletes who study

1. It seems obvious, but it is especially important to keep it in mind: decide on something you like. You will only be buying term papers online if you make the wrong choice of major. To decide what you really like, imagine your life without practicing your sport and decide what you would like to be, what you would like to dedicate yourself to in that situation. There are multiple options, it can be related to sport or have nothing to do with it, but it is essential that you are as passionate about it as your sport. 

2. Keep in mind that after a while you will no longer be competing in your sport. This is something you must be clear about, even though you may not like to think about it. By being clear about this aspect, you will have a clearer idea of the importance of having another professional alternative.

3. Learn to manage your time. It is not easy, and you may need help at the beginning, but it is a key point. Sometimes the difficulty of combining both activities does not lie in the lack of time, but in the way we manage it. It is important not to study or train in the free time left by the sport or train in the free time left by your training. Understand both aspects as important and a priority in your life and manage your time accordingly.

4. Separate both things: do not allow your training time to be invaded by thoughts about academic or training aspects and on the contrary. You must learn to manage your thoughts as well as your time.

9. And finally, very important: be very clear about why you do it. Surely you have very clear motives and objectives, so never lose sight of them.

In addition, it is important to keep in mind that athletes are people and not only do sport. Having more activities outside of their sporting routine is important for their development as people and having training will also make them better athletes.
