I don’t want to start this off by saying this was a weird way to start my day.
I woke up to a headline stating that former heavyweight boxing champion George Foreman allegedly raped a couple of 15 year olds and groomed them since they were roughly eight years old.
So I start digging around and reading this article about it and this allegedly took place in 1970!

I don’t want to say this didn’t happen but to wait 50 years seems a bit wild to me. I get maybe a few years later coming forward but this? This is wild and people aren’t ‘buying into it’ seeing it happened so long ago.
Social media users aren’t the only people who disagree with the allegations but so does Foreman himself.
“Over the past six months, two women have been trying to extort millions of dollars each from me and my family,” his statement said. “I don’t pick fights, but I don’t run away from them either.” – Foreman
Per ESPN:
Both women, now in their early 60s, said they first met Foreman as children because their fathers were boxing associates of Foreman.
Denise, a Los Angeles resident, said in her lawsuit that Foreman groomed her when she was 8 years old and had sex with her when she was 15 (under the legal age of consent), in one instance in a San Francisco hotel room.
Gwen, a Nevada resident, said she met Foreman when she was 9, and that he sexually abused and raped her when she was 15 and 16 years old, including at an apartment in Beverly Hills. She said Foreman told her that her father would lose his job as a boxing adviser if she did not comply.
Like I said I’m not discrediting the women for coming forward but it seems a little fishy that it took 50 years to happen. I get people handle trauma differently but this is something that should have been handled 40+ years ago.
The females might be better off starting a GoFundMe to collect money because I don’t see it happening 50 years after the fact.
