Gearbox Is Giving Bulletstorm Some Attention At PAX East, But What Could It Mean?

Written by Robert Workman

We already know that Gearbox Software has some big announcements in store next week for PAX East, including the (possible) reveal of Borderlands 3(at long last), as well as a potential port of Borderlands 2 for Nintendo Switch. But they’re not content on just those alone, as they’ve also hinted that there’s a THIRD announcement coming- and this one is Bulletstorm related.

You may recall a little while back that Gearbox published Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition for Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC, effectively reintroducing People Can Fly’s wild first-person shooter to a new generation. And for good measure, they threw Duke Nukem into the mix, adding even more surprise fun to the package. But today, the company teased a new image on Twitter, which can be seen above, indicating that it would be announcing something else at PAX East.

In the image, we see Ishi alongside Duke Nukem, characters from Bulletstorm’s Full Clip Edition. Sooooo…here’s what it could mean.

The first possibility is that we could see a sequel to Bulletstorm. It wasn’t the most profitable game in the world, but it’s a popular cult title, so that’s not out of the realm of possibility.

But there’s also something else- a possible port of Bulletstorm for Nintendo Switch. The company already hinted that Borderlands was coming to the console/handheld hybrid, so why not Bulletstorm as well?

Or, hey, if we’re REALLY lucky, we could end up with both, which would be a dream come true.

All eyes will be on Gearbox’s panel when it comes to Boston next Thursday, March 28. We’ll keep tabs on what these announcements are and keep you informed.

In the meantime, if you haven’t played Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition yet, you might just want to fix that. It’s insanely good.
