Back in 2019 Barstool Sports fired Francis Ellis after he posted a blog making a joke about a missing lady and later on the lady was found dead. Barstool wasn’t happy with the blog and founder Dave Portnoy made it clear by firing him.
Recently Barstool Sports started to allow Francis back into some content and he has recently signed a new deal that’ll bring Francis back come September. A huge move for Francis and also Barstool.
Some people might be upset about this seeing they’re bringing him back. But it’s been over three years and I think he deserves another shot. People make mistakes and he did, he owned up to him. He’s a standup guy and he’s back!
What a journey. See you in September @barstoolsports pic.twitter.com/Pa14Lxmo5m

In screenshots of the now-deleted post, Ellis addressed the disappearance of 23-year-old Lueck by calling attention to her low follower count on Instagram and pointing out that she was active on a sugar daddy dating website prior to her disappearance. He also acknowledged that she was a fan of the Barstool podcast “Call Her Daddy.”
Lueck had been missing for nearly two weeks at the time of Ellis’ post, and later on Friday, 31-year-old Ayoola Ajayi was arrested and charged with her murder.
“I simply should not have written about the story,” Ellis said. “It was a horrific mistake and I am deeply sorry to the Lueck family for their unfathomable loss. I cannot imagine what they’re going through. The last thing they need is some fool on the internet offering thoughts on their ordeal.”
I know he messed up. He knows he messed up. Francis will be bringing his talents back to Barstool and I can’t wait to see the content he creates.
Right move to re-hire?
