Even though he and his team have lost in the Boys Basketball Division 3 State Championship Game in Michigan to Flint Beecher last weekend, Iron Mountain High School senior Foster Wonders had additional accolades that he was nominated for.
Wonders was nominated for Michigan’s Mr. Basketball, but went on to finish second in the standings behind Michigan State recruit and Detroit Douglass Academy’s Pierre Brooks II.


Prior to the honors, Brooks finished his career with 2,889 points in the voting via the Basketball Coaches Association panel, while Wonders tallied up 2,573 points.
Via an article by the Iron Mountain Daily News, the Southern Illinois University recruit and now the U.P.‘s highest scorer in boys basketball scorer, had averaged a 34.5 points, eight rebounds, three assists and two and a half steals per game this past season.
The full top three in the Michigan Mr Basketball standings are Brooks II with 2,889 points, followed by Wonders with 2,573 points, and University of Michigan recruit and Grand Rapids Christian’s Kobe Bufkin with 2,143.
