With the draft just over two weeks away, the Detroit Lions continue to shake up their secondary.
This time, the team has decided to trade away former 2020 third overall draft pick, cornerback Jeff Okudah, to the Atlanta Falcons. The Lions will be receiving a 2023 fifth-round selection back from Atlanta via NFL Network’s Tom Peliserro.
The 2023 fifth-round pick the Lions would get back was the original pick that the Falcons got as part of the Calvin Ridley trade to Jacksonville.
So with the loss of Okudah, Detroit’s cornerback room currently consist of new additions Emmanuel Moseley and Cam Sutton, Jerry Jacobs, and Chase Lucas.
There is a strong possibility that the Lions will be drafting a cornerback or two in the first few picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Those players who could be in the fold include Illinois’s Devon Witherspoon, Oregon’s Christian Gonzalez, Maryland’s Deonte Banks and Mississippi State’s Emmanuel Forbes.
