As a team overall, the Detroit Tigers are off to an abysmal start at a 14-28 record.
From the entirety of the Opening Day pitching staff landing on the injured list (IL) currently to the Tigers offense producing the fewest runs in the league, Tigers fans and (new and former) players are completely frustrated. But no other person is speaking out bluntly like Joel Zumaya.
The former fan favorite reliever took it to both Facebook and Instagram and voiced his anger on the team’s performance and frustration directed towards the team’s front office.
As seen in the above tweet, the team’s offense is on pace to score just over 400 runs this season. The statistics look to be worse than their 2003 team, the team that lost 119 games.
Like most Tigers fans, Zumaya said that he wants to see change. He said he wants the team to ‘clean house’ and ‘start removing some of those nerds that have no clue about the good ole game of baseball.’
And this is coming AFTER Tigers owner Chris Ilitch said that team’s rebuild was ‘over.’ Here’s proof that he said it:
Well guess what! It’s not!
Zumaya is absolutely correct, it’s time for Detroit to clean house and make wholesale changes. It’s probably the only way the team can reverse its course.
